We have been working on a 70 year old barn rejuvenation/expansion (6,000 sqft total). Complex DNR and City of Fitchburg approvals required. We incorporated largest soap stone Masonry Heater (TULKIVI) ever installed in Wisconsin. ADA accessibility improvements were included in this project. Stamped concrete patio and repurposed materials. This 83-acre educational center is for permaculture and regenerative culture!
The goals of this farm is to work with the land to create a symbiotic relationship in which people, animals and plants are respected and sustained. A place to educate and inspire others, here the 4 Winds Barn farm welcomes the Madison community to visit and explore it. The farm is in various stages of implementing enterprises including hops, hay, bees, mushrooms, chickens, sheep and woody ornamentals!
A Place to Learn and A Place to Gather
The farm includes workshops, educational programming and scheduled tours. They even include a state of the art demonstration kitchen. There is a library, loft and a cozy nook that seats up to 24 guests (including a kitchen, dining area, attached patio, fireplace and catering kitchen).
